COVID Policy

Updated 8/15/2023

SCC COVID and General Health Policy

For the 2032-2024 curling season, the Schenectady Curling Club is NOT requiring individual members or guests to show proof of COVID vaccination to enter or use any of the Club’s facilities.  However, the Club strongly recommends that members maintain or update their vaccinations for COVID, influenza, etc., as a measure of keeping members and guests healthy throughout the curling season.  Other measures to help minimize the spread of seasonal illness will be maintained to promote a healthy environment.

At this point in time, we will not require masks in the facility.  Anyone may choose to wear a mask if they wish to do so. Masks may be required for all members at some point in the future if conditions change.

SCC may update COVID precautions throughout the season should conditions regarding the disease change, should CDC guidelines or any New York State or Schenectady County requirements be recommended, and as determined by the Board.

Mask Policy

The wearing of masks will remain optional for anyone who uses or visits the Club.  Members should respect those who elect to wear masks, on or off the ice.

Curling on the Ice

We will allow regular curling with 4 person teams and 2 sweepers. There are no restrictions on the number of sheets being used.

Please consider using other methods than handshakes to wish your opponent and teammates “Good curling”.

After a game, while some are cleaning the ice, others should wipe down all the rock handles with disinfecting wipes. Feel free to wipe them down prior to a game as well.

Shared club brooms and stabilizers will be available. Please wipe these down with disinfecting wipes after each game.

Use of Facilities

Use of the Kitchen and Locker Rooms is unrestricted. Curlers should consider reducing crowding in the locker rooms by coming to the club dressed to curl and changing their shoes in the warm room.

Food may be served at the club. We encourage the use of disposable plates/utensils when possible, and the use of the sterilizer for club plates/utensils after they have been washed.

Bar Service/Socialization

There are no health-related restrictions on the availability of our bar services at this time.  People may gather in the warm room to socialize after their games. When done at a table, please use disinfecting wipes to clean off the table and chairs.

Signs of Illness

If you are feeling sick and have any symptoms of COVID or the seasonal flu, please refrain from coming to the curling club. Even if you believe it is not COVID, please get a substitute player and notify your team. They can play light as well if needed.

Notification of the Club if Positive

If you test positive for COVID, please let the Board of Management know as soon as possible by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know when you were last at the club. This will allow us to notify the membership of the positive case. The individual who tested positive will decide if their name can be released to the entire membership, only potential close contacts, or not at all.

Return to Club if Positive (or in close contact with Positive Case)

CDC guidelines will apply. (COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation | CDC
