USWCA "The Heart of Curling" is sponsoring an Open 5U Bonspiel at the Schenectady Curling Club on January 15 - 18 2026
The Schenectady Curling Club is excited to host the Schenectady 5U Oaks & Derby. This bonspiel is open to all curlers with 5 years or fewer years of eligibility and is an open format for any combination of women and men curlers so bring your teams of fillies and colts for a frozen photo finish to the button!
We highly encourage those teams looking to prepare for the regional qualifiers such as the Raymond Kayser Memorial, Elizabeth Childs Challenge, Francis Dykes Memorial, Queen City 5 and Under, Space Race, etc. Or those who are looking for an entertaining bonspiel to join.
We will have 3 Grand Prizes; providing top teams at the tournament in each category reimbursement to their rink fees of 2025/2026 National Qualifier Bonspiels☆.
* Women's Team = up to $460 towards a 5U National Qualifier Rink Fee
* Men's Team = up to $460 towards a 5U National Qualifier Rink Fee
* Mixed Team = up to $460 towards a 5U National Qualifier Rink Fee
☆ Teams must submit and be accepted for a 5U Qualifier to be awarded the Grand Prize.
Up to 32 team spots are available in a pool play format to move the top teams into A-D Brackets. We expect to fill all 32 slots so don't have a slow start out of the gate! We will consider the time of your entry as a primary factor, but please note the following exceptions:
- Days 1-6: We will prioritize entries to ensure diverse club representation & consideration for teams with at least one female curler
- Day 7 and beyond: All entries will be accepted on a strictly first-come, first-served basis
The price is $450 per team. This includes a 3 game guarantee with meals provided, a Calcutta Lottery, chance to win 1 of 3 Grand Prizes, and various other on & off ice games.
