As stated in our President's letter, there have been many changes and improvements made to our club in the off-season. We have ordered new stones from Kays of Scotland through a program offered by the United States Curling Association. To go along with the new rocks, our ice shed is being cleaned and painted with new colors. Finally, with webstreaming games becoming very popular, the club will be installing new cameras, monitors, and electronics so that games can broadcasted from sheets 3 and 4 during leagues and bonspiels.

The current startup plan for this season has the compressors being started on or about Friday, September 13th, with other icemaking activities flowing from that date. As always, the ice committee can use lots of volunteer help in getting our playing surface ready. 11th Annual Carosella Invitational Bonspiel (Women)
November 8th - 10th 2013
4 Event Bonspiel for Ladies! The curling starts Friday and goes through Sunday with fun stuff in between including a cocktail party, dinner, and costume party!

Men’s 10 and Under Bonspiel (Men)
December 13th – 15th 2013
Calling all men with 10 years of curling experience or less! Among others, participants will include those who have aged out of the Francis Dykes (5 & Under) competition, along with competitors honing their skills in preparation for future Dykes events. The draw has been set to accommodate no more than 24 rinks, so please don't delay in submitting your entry.

The Schenectady Open Bonspiel (Open)
January 30th - Feb 2nd 2014
Come to Schenectady for the curling but stay for the party at this signature annual event! This four event bonspiel brings challenging curling with curlers coming in from as far as Quebec to take part in the fun. House parties, bands, DJ’s, raffle baskets, signature drinks, and costumes make this event a great time.

February 14th – 16th 2014
This exciting bonspiel for Juniors has three games guaranteed and four events with pins for winners and finalists.

75th GNCC Francis Dykes Memorial Bonspiel (Men)
February 26th – March 2nd 2014
For GNCC men with 5 or fewer years’ curling experience.

The Gordon – Emmett Invitational Bonspiel (Men)
March 7th – 9th 2014
The Gordon Medal is the third oldest competitive athletic competition in North America. The winner of the Gordon medal is recognized as the Champion of the Grand National Curling Club. Each member of the winning rink will receive the Gordon medal which is cherished by curlers nationwide.

Gordon International Bonspiel (Men)
March 13th through 15th 2014
This is a very historic event, starting in 1884. The actual format changes based on the venue. When the medal is played for in the US there are usually 20 Canadian teams and 20 American teams playing two 10 end games. When the medal is played for in Canada there are usually 40 Canadian teams playing 1 game and 20 American teams playing 2 games. The outcome is determined by the total number of stones scored by each country in the two games. In 2013, the US won the medal.
